Hizbullah Believes Israel Stages "Security War" Lebanon's fundamentalist Shiite Hizbullah believes Israel is staging a secret "security war" against it and its allies, namely Syria, Iran and Palestinian Sunni fundamentalist Hamas, the Beirut-based influential daily AN NAHAR reported on Feb. 18. The Iranian- and Syrian-backed group accuses Israel of killing its number two leader Imad Moghnieh in Damascus in 2008, senior Syrian security official Mohammed Suleiman just north of the Syrian port city of Tartous in the same year, and Hamas militant leader Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai in January, the newspaper said. The group, whose massive arsenal makes it Lebanon's only armed faction, also believes the Jewish state killed Massoud Ali-Mohammadi, an Iranian nuclear scientist, in December, wrote Ibrahim Bayram, an expert in Hizbullah affairs, in a long report in AN NAHAR. Israel stayed silent about all these operations.
